“Being a trainer makes me think positively and other people see me differently and in a positive way.”
Georgina Littlechild

Everything we do at the Aldingbourne Trust is designed to support people with learning disabilities and to help them reach their potential as they work and live in richer, more independent environments.

Our training services have been officially recognised with a number of awards; we were winners of the National Training Awards in the South East region in 2004 and the Arun District Council Training and Development Award 2008.

A range of training initiatives

Powerful Trainers use drama and real life experiences to deliver their training, which covers a range of initiatives, including:

  • Promoting equality and diversity
  • Developing positive attitudes
  • Staff selection
  • Advocacy
  • Anti-bullying
  • Promoting social inclusion
  • Staff inductions
  • Support for parents and carers
  • Overcoming barriers, diminishing negative attitudes
  • Relationships
  • Celebrating difference

These initiatives are tailored to suit individual corporate requirements and budgets and presented in flexible training sessions that bring out the best in everybody.

We also offer guidance and advice to employers through WorkAid, a service designed to match candidates with learning disabilities to employers in the local community whilst overcoming the barriers of diversity.
